December 1, 2009–Cathy Wu, Edward G. Jefferson Chair of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at UD, has won a $473,350 grant from the National Institutes of Health to support ongoing efforts to develop a Protein Ontology (PRO) that captures both protein classes (parent PRO award) and protein complexes (this award). The protein complex ontology will capture the distinct complexes and sub-complexes as they exist in different species, defining them through their component proteins and annotating them through GO terms. This is a joint effort with Reactome and Mousecyc.
