My previous research involved cost and quality comparisons of two bacterial identification methods: MALDI-TOF MS and 16S sequencing. To date, my two projects include: working with Drs. K. Eric Wommack and Shawn Polson to help manage and develop the VIROME (Viral Informatics Resource for Metagenome Exploration) web-application. The goal of VIROME is to provide a web-application for scientific exploration of metagenome sequence data collected from viral assemblages occurring within a number of different environments. Additionally, I have been participating in the NECC’s Little Skate Genome Sequence project. Working for the last year, the goal of the project has been to annotate the genome of Raja erinacea.
